Wynn Las Vegas Resort Golf Course in Las Vegas, Nevada
The golf course at the Wynn Las Vegas Resort is a Tom Fazio designed extravaganza that opened in 2005. The Wynn hotel was built on the site of the old Desert Inn and the course replaces the Desert Inn's course. Unlike the other super-high-end Las Vegas golf courses that are affiliated with major Vegas hotels, the Wynn course is right outside the hotel's back door. There are even some seriously luxurious villas on the site (with private swimming pools) that overlook the golf course.
Much like the Shadow Creek course that Steve Wynn also built, building the Wynn Resort course involved moving enormous amounts of dirt and bringing in over 100,000 plants (thankfully, they salvaged over 1,200 trees from the old course). It's not cheap, but the playing the Wynn course is one of Las Vegas's nicest high-roller experiences.
The wide variety of golf courses in
Las Vegas, such as
Wynn Las Vegas Resort Golf Course, range from those that take advantage
of the region's desert terrain to others that have been engineered
to look nothing like "desert golf". Like many things
in Las Vegas, sometimes it's about spectacle and sometimes it's
about substance. But there's no doubt that Las Vegas has some very
substantive golf courses. |
